Teaching with the Simulator

The following are examples of how the Simulator may be utilized for teaching radiology in your course.  You may come up with other methods.  We would appreciate learning about new ideas and listing them on this page.

  • Students can be given the Simulator program and practice on their own as needed.
  • Students can be assigned a specific image/images to practice along with the image projections being presented in the classroom.
  • Students can be assigned to take specific images and do screen shots and send to instructor by e-mail or through their learning management system for evaluation.
  • Students can be assigned to use the Test Mode and place images in the FMX holder – one or all images – and send to Instructor to evaluate.
  • Students can take the Simulator into the Radiology Lab to use for instruction while practicing on Dexters.
  • Students can use the Anatomy section in the Simulator to learn the teeth numbers and names and where those teeth should be located in an FMX holder.  This portion of the Simulator could be utilized in other classes when teaching basic anatomy information.
  • Could utilize program for remediation for students having difficulty with acquiring diagnostic images.
  •   Instructor might utilize for one on one mentoring with a student or peer tutoring.
  • Instructors might want to utilize to calibrate with other faculty teaching radiology techniques in the lab or clinic.
